PROGRAM:
Day 1 - Awakening the Senses
We’ll gather as a group, introduce ourselves, and gently ease into sketching - tuning our eyes and hearts to the surrounding Nature. Kristine will guide you through your first warm-up exercises, encouraging slow looking, relaxed observation, and playful mark-making.
This day is all about presence - slowing down and settling in.
Day 2 – Exploring the Botanical World
We’ll begin the day with a trip to the Ubud Botanical Garden, where bold shapes of Heliconia, frangipani blossoms, andpalms. Here, you’ll gather inspiration through quick sketches, color notes, and reference photos.
Back in our space, Kristine will demonstrate how to choose reference and composition. With personal guidance and feedback, you’ll begin painting your own tropical studies - exploring how watercolor moves, flows, and blooms when guided by observation and emotion.
Day 3 – Painting
This day is all about painting, practicing and learning along the way. Full day of demonstrations and painting your chosen reference.
Day 4 – A Morning at the Market & Flower Mandala making
If possible, we’ll start our day early with a quiet visit to Ubud’s morning flower market.
We’ll gather in a quiet garden space to create our own flower mandalas using fresh petals and leaves - a meditative, intuitive experience rooted in Balinese ritual and gratitude for Nature.
Kristine will offer composition tips, color planning support, and demonstrations on layering, edge control, and building a strong focal point.
Day 5 – Finishing Touches
Our final day is one of reflection, finishing, and celebration. You’ll complete your botanical painting or continue refining your painting.
